I Wonder When He Comes Again

This week, I am posting a vocal arrangement of our Come Follow Me suggested song, “I Wonder When He Comes Again” from the LDS Children’s Songbook.  It is a beautiful song about the second coming of Jesus Christ. We are studying chapters 58-66 in the book of Isaiah, who speaks of “that day” when our Savior will come again.

  • Isaiah 60:1 “Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee”.
  • Isaiah 64:4 For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.
  • Isaiah 66:15 For, behold, the Lord will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire.18 For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory.

At the bottom of “I wonder When He Comes Again”, it lists the scripture references that it draws its text from. They are:

    • Matthew 16:27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
    • Matthew 19:13 ¶ Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them. 14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. 15 And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence.

I Wonder When He Comes Again was written by Mirla Greenwood Thayne, 1907-1997.
