The story of Job is one of great trial and difficulty. Job experienced suffering including physical pain, the loss of his possessions, the death of his children and the judgement from or turning away of friends and family. In the Come Follow Me manual it says: “Because of Job’s trials…he wondered if God was really just after all. But despite his suffering and wondering, Job maintained his integrity and faith in Jesus Christ. Sometimes the most important truths are revealed to us in the midst of our deepest anguish.”

Remember Him – Christmas Song

This song came about because of an invitation to sing at my Relief Society Activity at Church. As I thought about what I could sing, I realized that maybe I could write a song that would be exactly about the topic of bringing Jesus into the Holidays. Through working and re-working it, the song eventually evolved to what it is and I am pleased with the result. Creating this song and music video has already affected my intention and feelings about this holiday and a few times, even my behavior. I hope it helps bring others closer to Christ.

Arranging the song “Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire”

My parents were visiting me and I told them I was trying to figure out what cover song I would do for December. My Mom told me that her favorite Christmas song is Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire. I replied, “ok, that’s the one then.” I arranged a jazzy piano version of this song back in college at USU. It happened to be the only time this one professor seemed to be impressed with me!

Songwriting and Producing Clips for “After Today”

Brainstorming – This song is about an event in my life, the death of our child. But I also tried to write it in a way that would apply to anyone who has cared for a terminally ill loved one who has passed on. Writing it helped me to process everything that happened and to maintain some hope along with it. It’s a brutal topic and a heavy one, I realize that, but hopefully it will touch some hearts.
