I’ve always liked this song; but once I decided to do an arrangement of it and began to practice it, my view of it changed and it became about something a little different to me than probably the original intention. Since I was going through the process of losing our son and had recently faced a real possibility of my own death and the death of my baby during the birth of our fourth child; these “Million Dreams” changed from ideas and aspirations for this life into hopes and dreams for what lies beyond the grave. My dreams of the spirit world and someday our glorious resurrection are like delicate flowering plants that I tenderly, quietly, cultivate; trusting they will continue to flourish, grow and bloom.
To some, it may sound naive to believe in something that we can’t see or explain, to trust in a redeemer, in a Savior; but I like to think of it as being courageous. To me it’s courageous to believe, dream and hope for a better world. It can be difficult to maintain faith during hard times (it has been for me); but if we do, our determination, struggle and persistence produces an internal peace which surpasses all understanding.
1 Corinthians 2:9 – New Testament – Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
