Christmas Devotional Compilation

I put together a 22 minute Christmas Devotional Compilation with Quotes from Prophets and Apostles. There is something special about combining these uplifting quotes with beautiful Christmas music!

Resources of quotes from this video:
  • Jesus Christ is the light of the world because he is the source of the light which “proceedeth forth from the presence of God to fill the immensity of space” (D&C 88:12). His light is “the true light that lighteth every man that cometh into the world” Zacharias prophesied that the Lord God of Israel would visit his people “to give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide [their] feet into the way of peace” (Luke 1:79). “The Light and Life of the World” By Elder Dallin H. Oaks
  • Before you ever received the gift of the Holy Ghost, you had the Light of Christ planted in your soul, that “light which is in all things, … giveth life to all things,” and is the influence for good in the hearts of all people who have ever lived or ever will live. That light was given to protect you and teach you. One of its central messages is that life is the most precious of all gifts, a gift which is obtained eternally only through the Atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ. As the Light and Life of the World, the Only Begotten Son of God came to give us life by conquering death. We must commit ourselves fully to that gift of life and run to the aid of those who are at risk of giving up this sacred gift. Fear Not: Believe Only! By Elder Jeffrey R. Holland
  • At home in a hidden-away corner, I have a small black walking stick with an imitation silver handle. It once belonged to a distant relative. Why do I keep it for a period now spanning sixty years? There is a special reason. You see, as a very small boy I participated in a Christmas pageant in our ward. I was privileged to be one of the Three Wise Men. With a bandanna about my head, Mother’s Chickering piano bench cover draped over my shoulder, and the black cane in my hand, I spoke my assigned lines: “Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.” 2 Matt. 2:2 I don’t recall all of the words in that pageant, but I vividly remember the feelings of my heart as the three of us “wise men” looked upward and saw a star, journeyed across the stage, found Mary with the young child Jesus, then fell down and worshiped him and opened our treasures and presented gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh. • Then came that heavenly pronouncement to the “shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. … For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.” 5 Luke 2:8, 11 Born in a stable, cradled in a manger, He came forth from heaven to live on earth as mortal man and to establish the kingdom of God. His glorious gospel reshaped the thinking of the world. He blessed the sick; He caused the lame to walk, the blind to see, the deaf to hear. He even raised the dead to life. He provided for you and for me the greatest gift we shall ever receive: the Atonement and all that it conveys. He willingly died that we might forever live. From time to time the question has been posed, “If Jesus appeared to you today, what questions would you ask of Him?” My answer has always been, “I would not utter a word. I would listen to Him.” Christ at Bethesda’s Pool By President Thomas S. Monson
  • From the beginning of time, prophets have known that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, of His mortal mission, and of His Atonement for all mankind. Sacred records give the prophecies of thousands of years, not only of the first coming of our Savior but also of the Second Coming—a glorious day that will most assuredly come. If we had lived in the days of these prophets of old, would we have believed on their words? Would we have had faith in the coming of our Savior? In ancient America, Samuel the Lamanite prophesied that on the night of the Savior’s birth “there [would] be great lights in heaven, … insomuch that it shall appear unto man as if it was day.”  Hel. 14:3 Many believed Samuel and went to find Nephi, confessed their sins, repented, and were baptized. “And angels did appear unto [them], and did declare unto them glad tidings of great joy.”  Hel. 16:14 But for the most part, the Nephites “harden[ed] their hearts” Hel. 16:15 and became blind to the “signs and wonders” of the times. These signs were given so “that [the people] might know that the Christ must shortly come.” Hel. 16:4 But instead of heeding them, the Nephites “depend[ed] upon their own … wisdom, saying: Some things [the believers] may have guessed right, … [but] it is not reasonable that such a being as a Christ shall come.” Hel. 16:15–16, 18 Finding Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ By Elder Robert D. Hales
  • The peace He gives us is not like what the world gives.[See John 14:27] It’s better. It’s higher and holier. Jesus said, “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”[ John 10:10] The gospel of Jesus Christ is truly the “good news of great joy”! [ Luke 2:10 New Revised Standard Version.] It is a message of matchless hope! A message of yoke-bearing and burden-lifting. [See Matthew 11:28–30] Of light-gathering. Of heavenly favor, higher understanding, holier covenants, eternal security, and everlasting glory! Joy is the very purpose of God’s plan for His children. It’s what you were created for—“that [you] might have joy”! [ 2 Nephi 2:25] You were built for this! Our Father in Heaven has not hidden the path to happiness. It is not a secret. It is available to all! A Higher Joy By Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf
