Sunday Will Come

Sunday Will Come

I began writing this song in April 2021 after discovering Elder Wirthlin’s talk, ‘Sunday Will Come.’ At the time, it had been nearly a year since Eli passed away, and I was finally starting to feel a deeper sense of healing than I had in the months prior. Six months ago, I revisited the piece to refine what I’d originally written. While the melody, structure, and lyrics have changed significantly to make the message clearer for every listener, the heart of the song remains the same. It is still a story of endurance, healing, and finding hope through the power, mercy & resurrection of Christ.

Gethsemane

Gethsemane

I am struck by the humility of Jesus Christ in condescending below all to suffer for our sins, pains and afflictions in the garden of gethsemane, then to continued to suffer on the cross, die and take up his own life again so that he might be the perfect Healer, Redeemer and Savior for each one of us.

I love how this song talks about God’s creations in the first verse, which makes me think of the circle of life with all plant, animal and human life. In the second verse it then testifies that “on a golden springtime, Jesus Christ awoke”. Wow! This is the best news in the history of all news. This is the pinnacle on which all of Christianity stands.

Hello! “Risen” is the song I chose to do this week to go along with the Come Follow Me Easter lesson. This song was written by Shawna Edwards in 2019. Here is what she said about the song: “Every good thing we have is because of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. “Risen” is the result of my special feelings for Jesus and the joy I feel, knowing that He lives!” Melinda Spence is on vocals with me along with Emily Clark on the Violin. Melinda is the one who suggested this song to me as one we could sing in sacrament meeting at Church around Easter time. We decided to record and film it as well. I’m grateful for everything those two added to this arrangement. They did such a beautiful job.
