I began writing this song in April 2021 after discovering Elder Wirthlin’s talk, ‘Sunday Will Come.’ At the time, it had been nearly a year since Eli passed away, and I was finally starting to feel a deeper sense of healing than I had in the months prior. Six months ago, I revisited the piece to refine what I’d originally written. While the melody, structure, and lyrics have changed significantly to make the message clearer for every listener, the heart of the song remains the same. It is still a story of endurance, healing, and finding hope through the power, mercy & resurrection of Christ.
It makes me wonder why we would stumble through life—unsure of what we are doing or where we are going—when we could instead hold the hand of the Savior, the Lord of the universe. By allowing Him to lead us, we avoid pitfalls and wrong turns; He lifts us when we fall, strengthens us when we are weak, and leads us toward life, living waters, peace, and rest.
