In the days and weeks leading up to Eli’s death, I was, at times, very emotionally distraught. One day, I thought of the song “Peace in Christ” which was the Youth Theme for The Church of Jesus Christ in 2018. I found the sheet music online and printed it. I sat down to play and sing it that day and immediately the tears began to fall.
I returned to the piano to sing the song time and again and I noticed it helped me to feel the spirit and release emotion. It brought me a lot of comfort and helped revive my faith.
After some internal debate, I decided to sing “Peace in Christ” at Eli’s funeral. It was difficult to get through the song, but it was a way for me to honor him and I’m glad I did.
This year has been probably the hardest period of time our family has had, but with that, we’ve had some of the sweetest moments ever.
Thanks for all the love, prayers and kindness we’ve received.
Talk to you again soon, Marilee
