This week, I am posting a vocal arrangement of our Come Follow Me suggested song, Teach Me To Walk in the Light. My 15 year old daughter sang the first verse! 🙂
In the manual it says “Psalm 119:105 teaches that the word of God is “a light unto [your] path.” As you read Psalms, record phrases and ideas that inspire you and help illuminate your path back to Heavenly Father.”
Here are a few other examples of scriptures within our studies of Psalms 102-150 that relate to this hymn: Psalm 119:35 35 Make me to go in the path of thy commandments; for therein do I delight. Psalm 127:1 1 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. Psalm 127 3 Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
Teach Me To Walk in the Light, number 304 in the LDS hymn book, echoes these ideas in its musical form. It clearly and simply expresses the need to “walk in the light” both as a follower of Christ and as a leader in our homes. This hymn was written by Clara W. McMaster. The scriptures referenced at the bottom of the hymn are: Isaiah 2:5 5 O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the Lord. And Ephesians 5:8 8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
Just when I got comfortable, you took things to a new level by making this multi-generational song, adding Laya’s talent and bringing tears to my eyes. And I wonder who giggled with you there at the end of the recording. I hope to hear more from Laya in future productions. You continue to do great work. I hope it never stops. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much. I will have to share this comment with my daughter. I was surprised she said yes when I asked her, so maybe she will do it again! My two year old, Lucas, was the giggler 🙂
