Disciple of Christ by Nik Day

Disciple of Christ by Nik Day

Hello! “Disciple of Christ” is a song by Nik Day. It is the youth theme song this year and I chose it for this week’s Come Follow Me lesson entitled, “Preserved by His Marvelous Power”.  This arrangement is a collaboration with my triplet nephews on my husband’s side! Nathan, Josh and Zack did such a great job. It was a super fun project to work on with them. They had sung it in Church recently so I told them we should record it together. Brad’s sister, Carrie, had written the harmony part they sang together and I added my little spin on it. I am so happy with how it turned out and how well it fits into our Come Follow Me lesson.

Hello! “Risen” is the song I chose to do this week to go along with the Come Follow Me Easter lesson. This song was written by Shawna Edwards in 2019. Here is what she said about the song: “Every good thing we have is because of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. “Risen” is the result of my special feelings for Jesus and the joy I feel, knowing that He lives!” Melinda Spence is on vocals with me along with Emily Clark on the Violin. Melinda is the one who suggested this song to me as one we could sing in sacrament meeting at Church around Easter time. We decided to record and film it as well. I’m grateful for everything those two added to this arrangement. They did such a beautiful job.

Light of the World By Lauren Daigle (Cover Arrangement)

Light of the World By Lauren Daigle (Cover Arrangement)

Light of the World, is the song I chose for the New Testament lesson  “He That Overcometh Shall Inherit All Things”  studying Revelation 15–22. “Light of the World is a contemporary Christian song and was written by Lauren Daigle, Paul Duncan and Paul Mabury and performed by Lauren Daigle. You may have heard it on the Christian gospel radio stations. I was asked to sing this for our ward Christmas party at Church and decided that since I was already working on it, I could record it here as well. The suggested song for this lesson was “When He Comes Again” which I have already posted twice, so I felt this was the perfect week to publish “Light of the World” instead, especially since it is Christmas Eve!

On a Golden Springtime

On a Golden Springtime

This week I am posting a vocal arrangement of our Come Follow Me suggested song, “On a Golden Springtime”. We are studying chapters 13-35 in the book of Isaiah. On a Golden Springtime is a song from the LDS Children’s Songbook and is such a beautiful, sweet song with surprisingly meaningful lyrics. It discusses three springtime events – growing of new seeds in the earth, Jesus Christ’s resurrection and Joseph Smith’s first vision.  Isaiah prophesied of events of his time and also future events. We believe some of the prophecies in this section have been partially fulfilled with the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Joseph Smith’s vision of God and the Son, and the coming forth of the Book of Mormon.

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

I was searching through some Christmas Music to decide which song I wanted to cover for December when I came across the original version of this song. It’s from the movie “Meet me in St. Louis” sung by Judy Garland. I really enjoy the first lyrics. They have a bit more emotional tension than I feel the later versions have. For instance:
