Have I Done Any Good?

Have I Done Any Good?

Have I Done Any Good?, is the suggested song for the New Testament lesson “Be Ye Doers of the Word, and Not Hearers Only”  studying the book of James. This song was a really fun one to do! Kevin Forbush is our guest guitar player and vocalist for this vocal duet arrangement that we did together. He is an amazing guitar player, songwriter and singer. When we moved to our new area here in Layton, (he lives a few houses down the street) we discovered that he was my Aunt’s brother (my aunt by marriage) and had also been neighbors with my husband’s uncle. Just so many connections! ha ha. He and his family all love music and it was really great to be able to do this song with him. The sheet music for this arrangement can be found here: http://marileekaymusic.com/sheet-music/

I Need Thee Every Hour – New Testament

I Need Thee Every Hour – New Testament

I Need Thee Every Hour, is the suggested song for the New Testament lesson Jesus Christ, “the Author of Eternal Salvation” studying Hebrews 1–6. This is the second time I am posting this song. The first time was August 2022 for the Old Testament lesson in the middle section of Psalms. It was one of my earlier arrangements in this series. It is such a beautiful and personal hymn.

Upon the Cross of Calvary – Piano Solo

Upon the Cross of Calvary – Piano Solo

Upon the Cross of Calvary is the suggested song for the New Testament lesson “It Is Finished” studying the crucifixion of Jesus as recorded in Matthew 27; Mark 15; Luke 23; John 19 and can be found in the LDS Hymnbook. It is one of the hymns that is sung by the congregation to prepare for the most sacred part of the Sunday meeting; the partaking of the sacrament in remembrance of Jesus Christ.

When Faith Endures (Piano solo)

When Faith Endures (Piano solo)

The suggested song this week is “When Faith Endures” which can be found in the the LDS Hymn Book. This song has only one verse, so it one of the shortest hymns in the hymn book. One of the scripture references at the bottom of this hymn is the following: 2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

The Wise Man and the Foolish Man

The Wise Man and the Foolish Man

This week’s suggested song is “The Wise Man and the Foolish Man” from the LDS Children’s Songbook. This song is a beloved song to sing during Primary at our church. All the youngest kids especially love it and you can’t forget to do the hand motions when you sing it: “the rock” (plant right fist in palm of left hand), “rains” (let hands descend from high in the air), “floods” (raise hands with palms up), “Sand” (wiggle fingers and move arms back and forth in front of body), and “washed away” (wiggle fingers and move arms out away from the body)! 🙂

God Loved Us, So He Sent His Son – Piano Solo

God Loved Us, So He Sent His Son – Piano Solo

“God Loved Us, So He Sent His Son” is a song from the LDS Hymnal and is one of the hymns that is usually sung right before the administration of the sacrament to prepare hearts and minds for that sacred ordinance. This hymn bases it’s text on one of the scriptures from our lesson, John 3:16 ¶ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Come Follow Me

Come Follow Me

This week’s Come Follow Me lesson is studying Matthew chapter 4, and Luke 4-5 and is titled ““The Spirit of the Lord Is upon Me”.” In this video – I included depictions from three different stories found within these chapters – Jesus inviting his disciples to follow him, Jesus healing a possessed man and Jesus declaring he is the Messiah.
