Did Jesus Really Live Again – Piano Accompaniment

Did Jesus Really Live Again? is the suggested song for the New Testament lesson “He is Risen” studying the resurrection of Jesus as recorded in Matthew 28; Mark 16; Luke 24; John 20-21 and can be found in the Children’s Songbook.

There are multiple accounts and witnesses for this event. Here are a few excerpts:

  • Matthew 28:5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
  • Mark 16:6 And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.
  • Luke 24:2 And they (Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them) found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments: And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again. And they remembered his words,
  • John 20:15 Jesus saith unto her, Woman (Mary Magdalene), why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away. 16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master. 17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

In the Come Follow Me manual, it says:

“How do you feel as you read about the Savior’s Resurrection? Consider how it has affected you—your outlook on life, your relationships, your faith in Christ, and your faith in other gospel truths.”

For me, the belief in the resurrection of Jesus Christ is central to my faith, hope and peace. It gives me greater importance for all I do now, since my actions affect not only this life, but the afterlife; when I will, in due time, be resurrected as well. Because of this belief, I cling to my dreams and visions of our family being reunited with our two deceased boys, and that day when they will have glorious, perfect, resurrected bodies. It’s a beautiful sight in my mind’s eye.
