The Lord Is My Light (Piano Solo)

The Lord Is My Light” is a very hopeful, joyful and fearless song which I could definitely feel as I began to arrange it. So I decided it would be fun to do this one as another piano solo. To be played “Resolutely” as it suggests at the top of the hymn, (which can be found in the LDS Hymnbook).

This week’s Come Follow Me lesson is studying John chapter 1 and is titled “We Have Found the Messiah.” In the manual it says: “John was inspired to seek the Savior because of the testimony of John the Baptist, who declared that he “was sent to bear witness of … the true Light” (John 1:8–9). John himself also bore powerful witness of the life and mission of the Savior.”

John 1:4-10 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. 6 ¶ There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

The Lord Is My Light” was composed by: Text: James Nicholson, 1828–1876 Music: John R. Sweney, 1837–1899

The many variations you incorporate into your arrangements amaze me. I love them all. Well done, once again, Marilee.
