“6 Conference Messages” ARTICLE Link
My husband and I really enjoyed October 2025 General Conference. As I watched the Saturday session, I was impacted by so many messages. I decided it might be neat to select some of the messages that stood out to me in the first session and connect each of them with one of my songs that would echo them. Elder Gary Stevenson’s talk really stood out to me as well as Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf’s.
The weeks leading up to conference I had been thinking about the commandment to “Love your Enemy” and had been pondering about how I could better do that. The Thursday before conference, Elder & Sister Stevenson held a mission reunion for the mission they had been mission presidents for back maybe 20 years ago. My mother, Laurie Burdett, has worked for them for years and was in charge of helping plan and decorate for this reunion which was held in downtown Salt Lake. I came to support my Mother and help her set up the table decorations etc. It was fun to be there and see the love that Gary & Lesa Stevenson have for their missionaries, the spouses and their children & really anyone that was there helping. It was clear to me that they cherish, pray for and think about each individual.
With this background of watching them in action and pondering myself on how to live what Jesus has taught; to hear him speak about peacemaking and loving our enemies, truly touched my heart. That had been something on my mind, and I felt it was such an inspiring and relevant message to open conference with. Also, I know that he and his wife live it.
Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf’s talk was touching to me as well. His message is something I hope my daughter will understand deep within her and all the other youth, young adults and really everyone, including myself!
