I tried something new in this video….talking. 🙂 I discuss some of the inspiration behind the song Home to Me and then 3 qualities of a good parent. What do you think? Do you agree with the qualities I chose?

This song is dedicated to the people, places and memories that make us feel at home.

This is a song that for me was more of an expression of a feeling than anything else. The feeling is more complex than just one emotion like joy, contentment, peace or love. Thus, the title “I Can’t Explain It”.

The founders of the Cure GM1 Foundation, Christine and Doug, have a beautiful daughter named Iris. A good friend of theirs, Jamie Bucchignano Angevine composed a song for her. Christine asked me if I would record the music and vocal for the song. I really enjoyed being a part of this project. Listen to it in the video above and/or download the mp3 recording below.

I wrote Set Sail for my husband Brad and performed it for him at our wedding reception back in 2004. A friend of mine, who was at the reception, recently asked about the song and suggested I record it. So

I have a new original song for you this month; it’s about my amazing daughter, Laya. It’s hard to put into words the emotions and story behind this song; the years of ups, downs, efforts, growth, set backs, challenges, struggles, determination and joy that have been piling up in the pocket sized moments of her 12 years of life. As her Mother, I haven’t quite blossomed to my full potential yet, but I feel this fire inside of me that gives me some inkling of what I am capable of. I have glimpsed, during sweet moments of inspiration, how precious she is; and they have been like rays of light continuing to lead me down the correct path. I have a lot of hopes for her and I believe in her. I know she is brilliant, unique and priceless. I just hope she can believe all of it for herself.
